ok. so i have a boyfriend.
weird.
a boyfriend.
never did i ever expect to say that.
anyway. i guess mr. whatshouldicallhim? has a name now: boyfriend.
he's great. i lucked out. he has picked me up, driven several gazillion miles just to spend time with me. he is polite. he is funny. he is smart. he likes star wars and legos. he hates mushrooms. he doesn't understand olives. he is as excited about harry potter as i am. he laughs at my jokes and, the most important part, he loves mustard. i don't know many people who enjoy mustard. i love it. and he does too. we're a pretty good match.

ok. that's done.

let's talk school.
today i sent a letter of "do not continue" students to the lead counselor. i sent an email stating that a total of 18 students can't continue with spanish next year. that's 11% of my students. that's 11% more than the amount of students i want to fail.
then i looked at the names... the same kids. over and over again. the same kids i have talked to, the same kids whose parents i've contacted, the same kids whose parents don't show up for conferences, same kids who miss school, same kids who don't want to study, same kids who sit and stare instead of working, same kids who refuse to get help, same kids who have gotten phones taken away several times, same kids who obviously don't want to be there. it's sad, but at the same time i don't feel bad. out of those 18, there are maybe 2 who have tried really hard but simply can't figure it out because spanish doesn't come easily to them. i feel bad for them, because i wanted them to do well, but i can't just pass people because "they try."

life has been a little hectic. i have to say dating takes up a lot of time, though i knew that from back when i dated mr. nocar. i want to blog every day, but half the time i am just trying to catch up with life or i am out with him, or with friends, or at school, or grading or planning.

did i mention that the seniors are done on friday and our last day of teaching is monday? did i mention SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE? did i mention i got SUNBURNT ON SATURDAY? SUN-BURNT!!!! OMG! it's been too long, Mr. Sun!!!! welcome back!

i just received two very important things: my official grade from the spring class i took (an A) and my bill for summer semester (4k). I am not excited about the four grand, but i am glad it includes all of my summer housing, minus food. i am excited about the fact that i will be going to school this summer, rather than sitting on my bum accomplishing nothing. i am excited about the fact that come july 4th, i will be 12 credits closer to an MA. whatever money i have to put into getting said MA is just a casualty of the battle.
