"You are looking at her w/ longing eyes..."

-------beginning of rant-------
Dear Football Player -- you know who you are:
STOP hogging the attention, STOP acting like you dont give a crap, STOP ditching, STOP missing HW assignments, STOP being an a$$ in my classroom, STOP distracting your classmates, STOP thinking you own the school --or its contents, for that matter, STOP thinking everything needs to be handed to you, STOP playing a sport that's clearly only making you dumber.
------end of rant-------

Asides from the uncomfortable episode with mr. football pants, the day was MOSTLY good. I fell off the bed -- again -- didn't shower -- again --- got to school about 5 minutes late --again --- BUT WHATEVER. the point is i made it.
It is my honest belief that my kids enjoyed the presentation on Mardi=Gras. Granted, i did not go into detail, because booze simply doesnt strike me as a good subject for a High School classroom, right? Either way, i made them work and i made them work HARD. The span 3 kids think they can get away w/ stuff, but i just need to push them. eventually they'll get it: practice makes you fluent in a second language.... hehehe... I also managed to easily embarass one of the kids who always sasses me in class, he turned BRIGHT red but his girlfriend enjoyed EVERY minute of it.
It went kind of like this:
B: GUYS! start the practice right now so we can do the answers on the board
T -- looking at his GF like he's never EVER going to see her again, or something idiotic like that...
B: T, do you need to move?
T: huh? what are you talking about?
B: do you want to sit by J?
T: huh?
B: T! you are clearly distracted, I see you looking at her with longing eyes....
----silence-----
-------generalized laughter-------
T: Miss B!!!!
B: T? YOU ARE BRIGHT RED!
T -- zips up hoodie and hides under it.... BRIGHT RED.
B: SCORE!

My freshmen were HORRIBLE today. I almost broke down to tears during class because i realized all the loudness, all the games, all the repetition, all the handouts, all the songs, all the everything has meant NOTHING. I spent FORTY FIVE MINUTES OF MY DAY repeating the questions que dia es hoy? and que dia es maƱana? only to get about half the class on the same page.... then i had to GO BACK and RESTART all of the vocabulary to hopefully catch what they've been missing since the beginning of school when they TOLD me they understood. wtf. ANDDDD one day at a time. today was bad with them, tomorrow will be better.

Tomorrow's gator gear day! can't wait to wear jeans to school! WAHOOOOOOO! Funny how one starts looking forward to lame things such as wearing jeans, going to bed early..... sigh....
