i need a little venting...

it has been hard the past few weeks, to keep up with all the additional things this year.
i have one more prep.
i have about a class' worth of extra students i did not have last year.
i am plc facilitator.
i am FAC rep.
i am a class sponsor.
i am a leadership advisor.
i am an ear for students to talk to.
i am a shoulder for students and fellow teachers to lean on.
i am a tutor for kids who need help during my off hours.
i literally AM a tutor for a kid after school.

me me me me me.
my friend AG has been telling me i need to take it easy. i need to duck and lay low for a while. she's worried i am going to get burnt out. it's hard not to. i never truly do leave work.

i wake up at 4:45 every morning.
i get ready.
i run upstairs, chug some water, chow on some fruit and take a bagel with cheese on the go - along with my one cup of coffee.
i am at school before the sun is up (what is it with that?).
i run up three flights of stairs.
i set up my classroom and by 7:08, when the first bell rings, i am ready to go.
i teach three periods in a row. no peeing allowed for the first three hours of my day.
i get fourth hour off. i get two or three students that come in for extra help.
52 minutes in an off hour, two students getting help = no lunch.
i get lunch maybe once a week. the rest of the days i eat yogurt in five minutes and i am back in my classroom.
i teach fifth period.
i am off sixth hour. another two to three students. grading, parent emails, updating gradebook, meetings, and maybe five minutes to EITHER pee or check my personal email. that's if i even make it to the second floor, or if i ever get rid of the kids during that period.
i teach 34 kids seventh hour. i can feel my body giving in.
the bell rings at 2:18.
i check attendance, make sure i make all the corrections necessary.
i check the DSB, to see what's happening the next day and -more frequently than not - to find out whether or not there is a meeting i was not aware of.
i take out my grading and i grade.
i take out my planner and i plan.
i email parents, update the website.
continue to plan. continue to plan.
i update the gradebook.
sometimes, i have meetings. sometimes i go home. most of the time i am the last car on the parking lot.
i drive 27 miles.
i get home.
i am starving, so i eat whatever's available.
i go downstairs. i continue to work.
on the weekends i tend to sleep in til 9 or 10.
saturdays are pretty Holy to me. i don't normally do much, besides grading and making handouts - which i guess is still working.
sundays are never fun days. i wake up, i get my laundry started and i plan. i grade. i plan. i grade. i answer emails. i grade. i plan.

me me me me me.
i just needed to say it. put it out there.

i need ME time. i give give give to 175+ kids every single day for five days a week PLUS my sundays.
don't hate.
i am wasting away giving myself up.

just sayin'

and i don't even make the big bucks.

i guess it's a good thing i love this job.
