I am in a pissy mood...

I am in a bad mood because Infinite Campus is a piece of CRAP software that only creates more work for teachers when posting grades - especially for those teachers with "LOCK IN" policies at their school.

LET'S RANT ABOUT THE LOCK-IN POLICY, SHALL WE? You want to know how to spread disease? tell the students they can't miss more than three days of school in a semester so that they can "lock in" their grade at finals time! Let's take a closer look at the policy:
Your child has Swine flu, but REALLY wants to lock in their grade -- so you send them to school.
Your child has the good'ol cold, but REALLY wants to lock in their grade -- yes, you send them to school anyway.
Your child has mono and has a fever, but promises not to make out with their boyfriend in order to lock in their grade for the semester -- so yes, you guessed, you send them to school anyway... no matter how highly contagious mono is.

Using the lock in policy ONLY increases the amount of gross disease floating around our building - which is already lacking A LOT of windows and fresh air flow. This is the same issue we have in the real-world, where people don't get ANY sick days and are forced to go to work with really contagious diseases that are then spread around customers, co-workers, etc.
One thing is trying to be a responsible student, or parent... but it's something else to be IRRESPONSIBLE and GREEDY and sending your kids - whom you KNOW has a fever/some other grody sickness - to school. To spread disease. To sneeze on other kids. To pick their nose and touch the doorknob. To bite their pen and then let another kid borrow it.

Ok and now, the policy - from the grades I had to enter TWICE today --- and spent over two and a half hours working on... only help improve about 1% of the overall grade of the students... so this lame "ATTENDANCE" policy that is supposed to help students really makes no difference at all (save for those borderline). Add on to that the hovering parents who have ALREADY emailed me about their students grade - what grade did my son get in the final? he thought he did really well? DEAR MS. HELICOPTER - CHECK INFINITE CAMPUS. HIS GRADES ARE POSTED. HE GOT A 70% AND YES - HE STILL HAS A D IN MY CLASS. GET OVER IT AND LEAVE ME ALONE.

OH MY GOD.

And you, MS MY SON IS FABULOUS AND HE CANT POSSIBLY HAVE A B - YOU SHOULD HAVE READ THE PART WHERE FIRST/SECOND SIX WEEKS ARE SNAPSHOTS OF YOUR KID'S GRADE AND ARE NOT TO BE AVERAGED...
As you can tell, his grade is on a downward slope since the second six weeks, maybe you should check his grade EVERY WEEK INSTEAD OF ONCE A MONTH.
GO BE A GOOD PARENT AND DON'T BUG ME.
